Where wall graphics work well
Wall graphics are useful when you want a space to look branded without building permanent dimensional signage.
- Office lobbies
- Conference rooms
- Gyms and training spaces
- Restaurants and hospitality spaces
- Apartment leasing offices
- Schools and universities
- Medical and dental offices
- Retail stores
- Event and pop-up spaces
They can be used for logos, mission statements, murals, sponsor walls, wayfinding, photo backdrops, and branded interior graphics.
The wall has to qualify
The biggest wall graphic problems usually come from the wall, not the printer. Some paint and wall surfaces do not hold vinyl reliably.
- Paint that is too new
- Low-VOC paint adhesion issues
- Heavy wall texture
- Dust, oil, or cleaning residue
- Moisture or exterior wall problems
- Patched or uneven drywall
- High-traffic walls that get touched or bumped
As a rule, vinyl should not be installed on a surface painted within the last week. Some walls may also need cleaning, testing, or a different material recommendation before production.
Artwork and sizing
Large wall graphics need files built to the right size. A logo pulled from a website usually will not work for a full wall.
- Vector logos when possible
- High-resolution photos or art
- Final wall size
- Bleed or extra image area when needed
- Safe area around outlets, trim, and corners
- Panel breaks for larger murals
Brandon can help check whether the file is usable before you commit to the install.
What to send first
For a wall graphics quote, send more than just the artwork.
- Straight-on photo of the wall
- Close-up photo showing texture
- Wall width and height
- Paint age if known
- Indoor or outdoor location
- Any outlets, trim, fixtures, or furniture in the way
- Install deadline
- Artwork file or design notes
If the wall looks questionable, it is better to know before the graphic is printed.
